Every month I try to do something at least a little bit creative, just to keep myself sane.

This past month, I decided to pull out my Amy Butler sewing book, In Stitches, and attack her placemats project. You see, when I have people over for dinner, I only actually have two matching placemats of any kind so couldn’t use any when there were more than two people here, unless I want to use all mismatching placemats for everyone, which would look kind of funny. So I was determined to make a set of four pretty placemats!
And I don’t really have much to say about this topic, except Shannon wanted me to post pictures. So here they are:

Also, this video is really good for learning how to slip stitch, which I have finally mastered. (It’s always been a horrible mess before now, but the stitches this time around are actually invisible on two of the placemats! Go me!)

Looks nice! Slip stitches are not easy

Those are lovely! Makes me think about making my own placemats, too. Did you actually do these by hand? I don’t think I am that creative. I don’t even get around to sewing buttons on my pants, leaving me with a pile of pants in a bag, in the closet that I can’t wear because they are buttonless. Sigh.

I bought that book and still haven’t made anything yet. Maybe you’ll inspire me since my goal is to start using my sewing machine. ;)
