Where Fiction and Reality Meet

Listed: The Summer Solstice

Tomorrow is the Summer Solstice. I thought it would be fun to have a Listed feature that focused on it, but as I’m not nearly as versed on this topic as Teresa, I asked her if she would be willing to guest post over here and share with us ten books about the Summer Solstice. Here’s what she has to say:

Ah, the Summer Solstice. The time of the Sun’s zenith. Also a time of magic, romance, intrigue, chaos and revelry if the books below are to be the judge.

  1. A Midsummer’s Night Dream by William Shakespeare. 1596.
  2. Midsummer Night Madness by Seán Ó Faoláin. 1982.
  3. Queen of the Sun by Janeen O’Kerry. 1998.
  4. The Twenty-Fourth of June, Midsummer’s Day by Grace Smith Richmond. 1914.
  5. Midsummer Night by Freda Warrington. 2010.
  6. A Midsummer Night’s Scream by Jill Churchill. 2005.
  7. Midsummer Magic by Catherine Coulter. 2003.
  8. Stonehenge by Bernard Cornwell. 1999.
  9. Midsummer by Marcelle Clements. 2003.
  10. Midsummer Meltdown by Cathy Hopkins. 2006.

Do you know of any other fictional books taking place on the Summer Solstice?

Do you like this feature? You should also check out Librarian’s Book Reviews’ Listless Monday, A Bookshelf Monstrosity’s Books By A Theme and Birdbrain(ed) Book Blog’s Birdwatching.
