I love this title! It is so great, risk-taking and modern. I think he does an awesome job pretty consistently of balancing the fairy world with the modern-day reality :)

Lisa - what were you expecting it to be like?

Nymeth - Yeah, I had found that he was quite good with characterization as well, and had meant to mention that but forgot... whoops. :)

MaryAnn - I'm very happy to hear that he puts so much time and care into his books - I had been a little bit worried. :) Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)

Great to read the lovely review. As the gal who's been married to Charles de Lint for the past 27 years, I can tell you that it takes him approx. 18 months to write a novel. Publishing schedules are beyond Charles's control. He writes for both adults & teens - long & short fiction - so while it can look like a mini word-factory (ha) it's not.

Also, publishers keep his books in print, so often what seems "new" is actually a reprint with a different cover.

Hope this clears up any misconceptions. We're ever so grateful that you readers allow him to do what he loves for a living!

Thanks!!! - MaryAnn

I read my first De Lint recently, and I thought that characterization was he was especially good at. I look forward to reading this one some day, as well as his other books.

I just finished reading this :)

I had the same issues with the third to first person. Overall it was a cute book but nothing like I thought it was going to be.
