I just finished the second one, 'Lost in a Good Book" and there was footnote communication in that one, too. I didn't like it as much as "The Eyre Affair" which I adored. I think he tried too hard to be clever in the second book, and it really showed. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one. Have you read Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next series?
