Reading List

Ah, that darned obligatory reading list that keeps getting longer and longer. The same one where books are rarely struck off because they have actually been read. Alas! What is a girl to do?

Anyway, these are the books that I am planning on reading one day. Too many of these books have been on my to-read list for years now. Eventually, I hope to get to them. Eventually. (Though in many cases I have been known to boot books off my reading list as I just loose interest in them. Alas.)

If you have a suggestion, I would be more than happy to add it to my list in hopes that I may eventually get there.

  1. Hi Courtney,

My name is Annie and I saw your comment posted about New Moon taking awhile to reach Australia. You’re right. I live in Australia, too, but I had it shipped from America because I couldn’t wait :P. Just thought I’d tell you (or anyone interested) that the release date for here is Feb 2007. I have connections with bookstores, and they told me that when they’re expecting the first shipment.

  3. srry my computer is stupid.
i recommended trickster’s choice. it was just some random book i decided to buy and now i wouldn’t part with it. it’s about Alanna’a daughter (you don’t have to read it Alanna books to understand it)who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. The book has more to it than you would think. I LOVE Nawat!! I think it and the sequel are the best books Tamora Pierce has wrote.

I also recommend The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty. My sister recommended the book to me and i thought it was pretty good. Its about two schools that have their english classes send letters to someone in the other school. It’s predictable but a book that you can read in a few hours.

P.S. Ella Enchanted is a great book, the movie is nothing like it. the movie doesn’t deserve to have the name Ella Enchanted.

  4. Christopher Golden is an amazing author, and he’s written for a wide variety of genres and ages. If you like fantasy/action-adventure, look into the PROWLERS quartet.

  5. Oh my goodness! You like Lewis! AND Rowling, AND Pullman AND Bray AND Tolkien! You are officially my best friend. I really appreciate your variety of genres in your list.

I agree about Ella Enchanted, the movie WAS HORRIBLE! It actually disgusted me, seriously.

I would definately read R.A Salvatore, if not the Highwaymen, then the Forgotten Realms series - DRIZZT ROCKS MY SOCKS!

Avid readers will one day rule the world - teehee.

Or at least that’s how i’m planning MY life.

  7. Hey, I love your list, a lot of those are some of my favorite books too. I wanted to reccommend Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series (Kushiel’s Dart, Kushiel’s Choice, Kushiel’s Avatar). They’ve got some heavy sexual stuff but the story is amazing and the characters kick ass ;-)
Also I really hope you’ve read His Dark Materials Series, also excellent, and the movie’s coming soon!

  9. You should try Warrior Heir by Chima. I just finished reading the sequel, Wizard Heir, and am waiting for the next book, Dragon Heir!

  10. The whole Tortall arc by Tamora Pierce is good, and HDM as well as all of Pullman’s other books are great!

  11. I second the Warrior Heir series by Cinda Williams Chima. The released books at the moment are both wonderful. And Tamora Pierce is incredible as well. I would personally recommend some TA Barron. I’d recommend starting with the Lost Years of Merlin books.
